Has grief and shock left you asking, “Why is this happening to my family?” If so, then you’re not alone.  Now is the time to pray for our families.

Please share this post with families in need of prayer.

As we pursue our path in Spiritual Wellness, we must remember that we face an enemy. What God seeks to build, evil seeks to destroy.  Here’s the good news: God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

In recent months, and more acutely in the last month, I’ve noticed an incredible attack against the family. From trauma and dissention to financial crisis, people in our communities are suffering.  These difficulties are not just weighing on individual hearts; but in many cases, they are tearing families apart.

This week, I spoke with a pastor who confirmed my observation. I consider her the most discerning person I know.  She told me, “In all my years of ministry, I’ve never see such an incredible attack against families.”  She has been in ministry for over thirty years!

I believe we are encountering what I call a “seasonal spiritual attack.” Think of it like the flu bug.  A person can get the flu at any time of the year, but there is a flu season.  In the same way, there are seasons when spiritual attack is concentrated and targeted — large groups of people are having the same symptoms around the same time.  Yes, I’m suggesting that we have the equivalent of a spiritual flu bug attacking our families.

The best response to a seasonal spiritual attack is to boost up your spiritual immune system. Why?  Spiritual Wellness is not the absence of pain, but the presence of Jesus Christ.

During this time, keep your focus on God. Remember to integrate Spiritual Wellness with the whole of your life.  This is the time to pray, read your Bible and worship.  This is the time to eat well, exercise and get plenty of rest. Be patient and loving with your family members.  Go to church – join hands with others in support and love.

This blog is a strategic call to action. This is not a doomsday blog.  It’s not a prophecy of things to come.  Instead, it’s my observation of what’s going on around us … and, it’s an urgent reminder.  We must pray for one another.

    Angie,

Some great insights…and will pray for God’s love to shine through.

I would of argued that family unity with God has been eroding away for many years. In fact, probably about 25-30 years. It really changed the family. To me, it starts and ends with the parents. And many did not go to church..or practice some basic fundamentals. It’s a generation that really changed. And now it’s a new generation of that specific aftermath and with other eroded fundamentals.

Moreover, through hardships, it will crumble if not planted on firm ground. Hope it’s just the flu bug…but, maybe it’s more. Maybe more…Walking in faith? Tested in faith? And more???

Will pray for God’s love to shine through…Is God up to something?

Right on, Al. So true! My husband Chris faces these issues everyday as he builds ALN, FamilyNet and FamilyNet radio. It’s a war zone out there in media-land.

More specifically, I mean that there is (at least in my day to day circles) a torrent of horrific activity that is leaving many families in anguish. These families are in our prayers.

I like to refer to the first paragrah: Why me, why my family we ask us in grief and shock. We never should ask us this question. We are all unique and God knows why he has choosen us. He will make us stronger, patient and more focused on what’s necessary for us in our lives. It’s not easy to pray for families with this kind of attitude. First this people have to change somthing in their hearts “attitude”- Blessings, Rose

    Angie,

    Thanks…

Sorry to hear of the media war zone problems….that is very true! I know it is very difficult. A lot has changed and still changing. A lot of moving parts in media outlets and television Networks. Had a thought and or a suggestion. Maybe, ask your husband, to do a joint blog on that specific topic to target the media networks, and even perhaps, in a press release….There might be a lot more people that would listen in that topic area. I for one, would love to listen to his view-points. In any event, just a thought….

    Will pray for the families…

    Thanks Angie,
    Great blog!
