The Book of Eli & A Drive-In Church

The Book of Eli is faith media nouveau! How refreshing to see a Christian film that is interesting, well produced and even violent! Denzel Washington plays a messenger chosen by God to preserve the last New King James Bible in an apocalyptic world. To fulfill his calling he must kill at times, and also walk by faith. He’s a godly man who frankly, kicks butt! That’s my kind of faith dude!
Religious institutions are eager to build faith-men who are gentle, kind and . . . dare I say, wimpy. With that kind of Christianity, why would men outside the church show any interest in joining the Jesus club? Thankfully, there are a few ministries such as Fellowship of the Sword and Ransomed Heart who urge men to fight for their cause. They’re building faith dudes! Traditionally, the “perfect Christian” is a painfully submissive pew warmer who is obedient to kindness, meekness and a slue of miscellaneous rules. Scriptures like Matthew 11:12, “the violent take it by force,” are rarely preached.
I’m proud of my grandfather for challenging the church tradition of his day. You might say that he lived a violent faith. In his era, people were taught to follow the “church rules.” Most churches taught that wearing make-up and going to the movies was a sin.
So, what did my Grandpa Schuller do? He started his church at a drive-in movie theater! Now that’s cutting edge! That’s fighting the good fight! He was relevant in his message of God’s love and acceptance. And, he didn’t seek permission from anyone on his method for delivering this message.
Too bad Christian media doesn’t follow his example! Christian films typically follow every possible Christian “rule.” Because of this, they’re often irrelevant and boring. I’m not suggesting we promote pornography or idolatry. I’m simply suggesting that if we worry too much about the “rules” then we may never produce something extraordinary.

Interesting Blog…
Not sure on the movie you mentioned, it seems like it’s more of fiction…Rather than of any-one walking in faith with the Holy scriptures or in the book of Revelations-Reality faith base, not as fiction.
Celebrities in that movie are acting…not filming as in the “real world.” Kicking ass and taking names is more like what God may say in the judgment.
I believe God is a REALITY STAR. And chooses real life in the real world. He teaches…and may even turn peoples lives upside down. He is a God of Strength. The Holy bible is where people have changed and a lot of the youth have changed factual info. and barely can even keep one day a week Holy.
I live in reality…
And that may be the difference of knowing when to worship and fellowship in my faith.
Your grandfather and father are highly respected men. And should be honored. Men of ordained faith. It’s an oath to God to keep it Holy.
Sometimes, God does reaches out and call’s…and people ridicule for the what reason. To promote a celebrity? He might humble the people in the end-
Real world faith…and hard-core reality-
Walking in my own path. Independent to others in my business affairs and loyal to God through Christ Jesus. Amen-

Yeah, yeah, it’s not easy to live a christian life. We should follow the biblel’s rules and not thinking what’s forbidden or not. – Blessings Rose
