<description>I began meditation as a teenager, so we are talking the &#039;60&#039;s, flower power, lotus position in a darkened room in front of a single candle. I would try not to consciously think of anything. Then a calmness would settle into me, my breathing was slowed and in time I would return slowly to the evening but soooo relaxed and feeling a sense of peace.

Skipping fwd to taking a degree in gerontology and one session was with a therapist who had us lay on mats, eyes closed and imagine a beautiful place we&#039;d like to be (That is laying on a beach towel with the sun on my face, listening to the crash and ripples of the waves in and back out, in and back out). Our breaths were counted and I was told my breaths reduced to 3 per minute!

I did meditate one time and experienced what is termed an &quot;out of body experience&quot; sensing (seeing yourself down there on the bed) then one suddenly is back on the bed. I found it awesome.

I now meditate similar to your teaching, with deep breaths, eyes closed and then pray that God (Jesus) will sit with me. It is wonderful and the sense of HIM there with me is incredibly inspiring yet soothing as a balm to my soul, if that makes sense.

Thanks for sharing your teachings and I do believe meditation works wonders. Each person must, I think know why and what they want to meditate toward...calmness, closer sense of God or just to try it out and see what happens for them.

Clearly, my ways have changed and my reasons have changed to where it is now for my spiritual wellbeing and closeness to HIM in my heart, as you suggested.

I never used those words of &#039;inviting Jesus into my heart&#039; but I will try that as it sounds to be a beautiful thing to do and for me the heart is the center of all beings!
