We are honoring Holy Week at Spiritual Wellness with 7 daily meditations inspired by Galatians 5:22-25, “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

Today’s Meditation:  Is Peace Your Priority?

When making a difficult decision, helpful friends might ask, “Do you have a peace about it?”  They want to know whether you feel at ease with God and within your soul.  True peace is the result of aligning our priorities with God first.  When God’s agenda exceeds our agenda, our lives fill with peace.

As we celebrate Holy Week, we remember the woman who prepared Jesus for His burial.  She poured out a costly perfume and used it to wash Jesus’ feet.  The perfume cost one year’s wages!  I wonder if she felt a peace about her decision?  Others were certainly disturbed by it.  They wanted her to sell it and give the money to the poor.   While we must always remember those in need, her life was not ordered around the needs of others.  Her life was ordered with God first.

Guided Meditation:

1. Please read the the story of this woman in Matthew 26:1-2, 6-13:

Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, that He said to His disciples, “You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”  . . .

And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper,  a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table.  But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste?  For this fragrant oil might have been sold for much and given to the poor.”

But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me. For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always. For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial.  Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”

2.  Now close your eyes and imagine that you are pouring your most valuable possession at Jesus feet.  Replay the events in your mind.

3.  As you imagine yourself in the story, ponder:  What must I pour out at Jesus’ feet?  What do I need to surrender?  Who are my accusers?  What is Jesus saying to them in the image?

My prayer for you: Lord, please restore our peace.  Help us to realign our priorities with You first and above all else.  Help us to surrender our concerns, worries, finances, ambitions and every thing else that we value in life.  Amen.

How is God guiding you in peace today?

Without having peace and peace of mind in our bodies we can’t reach something. – Point 3. I must pour my love, my appreciation and respect on him. Or giving my dearest possession, expensive or not do not count. Example it can be our worn out teddy from our childood. That you can do in our days with somebody you love and deserve to be honored for what he/she is doing for you or for others. – I join in your prayer Angie. – A Dieu (Go with God) as we say; means Good bye, Rose

It is said that we are 98% water and in that sense, I would wish to become that water; that Jesus might be comforted with all that I am and have. I need nothing but HE and that which leads me closer to HE. I would be Blessed to be the water worthy to bathe His feet.
