Good Heart. Kind Action. (Holy Week, Day 3)

We are honoring Holy Week at Spiritual Wellness with 7 daily meditations inspired by Galatians 5:22-25, “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
Today’s Meditation: Good Hearts, Kind Actions
Kindness is an action, and goodness is an attitude of the heart. Kind deeds must always be the overflow of a good heart. If one or the other is lacking, we are hypocrites. But with both goodness and kindness, we have the fruit of God’s spirit within us.
Jesus was both good and kind to His disciples. Before His crucifixion, He washed His disciples feet. He wanted to teach them that true love is service. When we focus on serving others, we are exercising both kindness and goodness.
1. Please read the following passage in John 13:1-5, 12-17: It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
2. Now close your eyes and imagine that Jesus is washing your feet. What is God saying to you as He washes your feet?
3. My prayer for you: Lord, help us to become those who serve others with kind actions and goodness in our hearts. Allow Your Holy Spirit to fill us with spiritual fruits that reflect Your true heart of service. Amen.
How is God producing goodness and kindness in your heart today?

As I closed my eyes and imagine Jesus cleansing my feet. He spoke to me and said “everything that I am going throught @ the moment, is going to be alright. That He washes away old things, to make room for the new things He has for me..” Thank You and God Bless..A Sister in Christ

Thank you Angie, for again for showing me one of Jesus’ acts, so profound in its nature! The imagery as I closed my eyes and sensed Jesus’ gentle loving hands bathing my feet, was so real I was truly feeling HIS kindness and gentleness.
Olga, I loved your good words as you wrote of sensing Jesus’ washing away the “old” to “make room for the new”. Wonderful!
Happy Easter to all
Jan-Michael.
