We are honoring Holy Week at Spiritual Wellness with 7 daily meditations inspired by Galatians 5:22-25, “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

Today’s Meditation:  Do You Love Me?

Jesus taught that there was “no greater love than a person lay down his life life for a friend.”  Later, He lived this truth by dying on a cross to save all of humanity.  On Easter Sunday we celebrate the day that Jesus rose from the grave.  Love is laying down your life for others, but it is also embracing the spiritual reality of life in Christ.

After Jesus arose, He stayed in Israel and visited with His disciples.  During this time, He revealed to them the next mission: Love.  He instructed His followers to love others by “feeding them.”  Jesus wants us to feed His spiritual truths to others.

Guided Meditation:

1.  Please read the following passage which occurred after Jesus’ resurrection, John 21:12-19: Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.”  Yet none of His disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?” – knowing that it was the Lord . . . This is now the third time that Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead.

So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”  He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”  He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?”  He said to Him, “Yes, Lord, You know that I love You.”  He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”  He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me.”  And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.”  Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.”

2.  Now imagine yourself in the scene.  Imagine that Jesus asks “Do you love Me?”  How does this feel?  What goes through your mind?

3.  As you pondering this question, ask yourself:  Who are God’ sheep?  Are they my family, friends or strangers?  How can I spiritually feed God’s sheep?

4.  My prayer for you: Lord, thank for overcoming death that we might have life.  Thank you for giving us Your enduring love.  Help us to love others by spiritually nourishing their soul in love.

How can you spiritually feed others?
