“A Map of…” is a new series that maps our monthly progress in Spiritual Wellness.

Featuring original illustrations by artist Brittany Scott.

October urged us to focus on God in the midst of our storm.

MAPPING OUR JOURNEY…

HIGHLIGHT! Spiritual Wellness on Nightline.  Watch it HERE!

CHURCH. If you’ve been hurt by church, now is the time to trust in God.  Don’t miss our 3-part series:  Safe in Church, Church: To Leave or Not to Leave & Risky Decisions.

GUEST POST. Janet Hagberg authored my favorite book for spiritual growth, The Critical Journey.  It helped me through one of the darkest storms of my life!  This month, Janet shared her original article, Chaos Reeks of God.

YOU SAID IT. My favorite comment this month comes from Sarah in Hurt By Religion: The church is just a group of imperfect humans. People hurt each other; on purpose, on accident, by default. In church or out. One can’t control the actions of others, but what one can control is their personal faith, truly forgiving others, and personal relationship with Christ; no person, church or religious organization can do anything to take away the wholeness we find in Christ.

NEXT LEG. Recently, several media sources quoted me on “faith, fame and family.”  Next month, we will focus on Spiritual Wellness and the family.  Just in time for Thanksgiving!

A LITTLE EXTRA! This month, we had several creative comments and even poetry.  I wanted to highlight a poem posted by Jan-Michael in Chaos Reeks of God:

“From the fragile nature of my understanding,
A well-spring of tears rose up in me that day;
I am 98% water or so I learned in school,
Now I felt myself sadly, just washing away;
98% of me a torrent now spilled down my cheeks,
As I stood in HIS garden confused and afraid;
But a blade of grass soaked up all of my tears,
It grew strong and  fragrant with a heavenly scent;
And one day I know I saw,
A butterfly there;
That blade of grass thriving, alive with my tears.”

WHAT IS GOD SAYING TO YOU IN THE MIDST OF YOUR STORM?

    Thank you, Angie, for puting this all in the concept of a “map”!

    In any storm now, though a head-wind may be coming at me, trying to push me backward; or if a gust tries to divert my path from HIS way; I know HE directs my steps when I listen to HIM throughout the day, 24/7 and staying His course is the right way.

    There is a map and it contains HIS directions! I do not need to find my own way and pat myself on the back for succeeding. HE has already laid out the Right Course and all successes along the route are HIS alone; and a Blessing given to us! I am HIS and know HE has a purpose for me, even in my trials.

    I only needed to say “YES, I believe and trust that all is going to be Good, no matter the way it may seem in the storms. I do not know yet why the storms came but YOU know and it will be for a purpose that will be okay and good in the end. I will stay Your course and follow Your map, forever”.

    He is Blessing all, always
    J-M
