The 7 days preceding Easter Sunday make up the traditional Holy Week.  But, are we keeping the week holy? On a recent walk with my mother-in-law, we observed baby ducks and blossoming flowers.  Truly, this is a season of rebirth and renewal.  At Easter, we celebrate life and remember God’s love for us.  We ought to honor this holy season with sacred contemplation.  We ought to make Holy Week holy.

This week, at SpiritualWellness.com, we will observe 7 Holy Days to Easter Sunday. The inspiration for the week is “Spiritual Fruit.” Check back each day for a fresh meditation as we contemplate:  Am I seeing the produce of God’s spiritual work in my life?

In my Spiritual Direction studies at SMU, I had the privilege of sitting under the tutelage of Father Joseph Tetlow.  Each day, Fr. Joe meditates on a different spiritual fruit as outlined in Galatians 5:22-25:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Over the next week, I will guide you in Spiritual Wellness exercises inspired by Fr. Joe’s regular spiritual routine.  The meditations are unique for our purpose and the daily topics are as follows:

  • Monday:   Joy
  • Tuesday:  Peace
  • Wednesday:  Kindness & Goodness
  • Thursday:  Patience
  • Friday:  Faithfulness
  • Saturday:  Gentleness & Self-Control
  • Sunday: Love

God wants to speak to you during this Holy Week. As we remember His Passion, may He enliven the passion within each of us.  May the produce of God’s spiritual work increase in our lives.

Please join us each day this week as we celebrate 7 Holy Days to Easter Sunday. Will you join us in a daily meditation? Will you invite your friends to join us in making this a true Holy Week?

ALL you describe above Angie, we should do throughout the whole year not only at this special occasion. Joy , peace… etc. Why only doing good things because an event is coming?!!! We can honour Jesus everyday of our lifes. – Blessings Rose

Rose, Yes, we must practice Spiritual Wellness at all times. However, I believe in the spiritual principle “what we focus on increases.” While we honor Jesus everyday, we must focus our attention in order to experience spiritual growth. Example: The Bible tells us to fast. But, we can’t fast everyday. We fast at times because we want to focus with more intention. This week is about intentionality. Will you join us?

    Wonderful, Angie!

I was hoping for inspirational words this Palm Sunday from you. I found both Inspiration and that we will be able to read and meditate each day of this Holy week, on this site, through each of the “fruits” of the Spirit!

Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness & Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness & Self-Control and Love
are read or prayed over often but seldom taken and prayed over individually. So I am really looking forward to the daily posts!

Also, I particularly like something to stay strongly connected to the Easter week beyond the TV biblical programs and movies that are aired. I prefer quiet meditation and readings this week. You have set forth a week that for me will add to other Easter week times at Church and home in a new and inspirational way. For that I am especially grateful!

Thanks and know that I certainly will be following your 7 days of posts along with Maunday Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday at my local Church.

    Love to you and all
    J-M

Angie, my opinion is, your post here you can’t compare with fast. – In short… It’s clear that nobody can fast everyday of the year, otherwise we are sent sooner to Heaven as we wish. – Blessings Rose
